It’s all about savings!
One of our customers has recently realised cost savings which could amount to over £250,000 per year!
In the Spring of 2012, we were asked to look at a project relating to the containerisation of bulk bags and maximising pay loads for deep sea exports. By slightly adjusting the size of the bulk bag the customer was able to add an extra 200kgs into each bag. It is true that we had to recertify the bag to hold a higher payload, but the costs of this were minimal as compared to the savings that could be made.
By adding an extra 200kgs to each bag the customer was able to:
- Increase the value of the product in each bag by 20%, and thus the payload of every container shipped increased accordingly
- The cost of the shipping costs container remained the same so all the savings were realised
- Reduction in the number of bulk bags needed annually (packaging spend reduction of 6,000 bags per annum)
- Reduction in the number of pallets required
This story shows that by making even slight changes to the way your Bulk Bags are used can bring around huge savings. This project began by our customer asking for our help to become more efficient. We have people in our team who have the experience to simply ‘observe’ the way bulk bags are filled, stored and transported. By understanding and then monitoring the supply process, we can report back to you with proposals that will work.
